*** Do not use the microwave ever to reheat food from The Flavor Chef***
Tools to use: Toaster oven (preferred) or regular oven, oven proof Baking dish either Pyrex or ceramic, or any oven proof baking dish that you like. You can find a nice variety of these type dishes at stores like Target, Home Goods or any kitchen store like Sur la Table. Buy a few sizes as well for heating up smaller quantities of food or to heat food separately.
For the stove top use a shallow pan similar to a sauté pan or frying pan. Use a small soup pot to reheat broths and soups.
Time/temperature: Toaster oven at 400 degrees for anywhere from 8 to 12 minutes, the small food portion does better in this smaller space, if using a regular oven the time to heat the oven may take longer and heating the food may take longer.
You will need Place the portion of food you would like to eat in the oven proof dish. Having various sizes of these pans is good especially if you are heating some foods that do better without liquid, like roasted potatoes or just want to heat a small amount of food.
For the stove top: This method is faster. This method works well with all of the food. Place food in a sauté pan or any shallow pot that you own, add bone broth and place on medium heat with a lid. This is important for reheating the grain and bean dishes. Heat the food for 4 to 6 minutes. The broth creates nice gravy and is very good for you. A good example would be placing mixed greens, lentils and a few slices of the turkey braise in the pan with the natural juices and some butter then placing the pan on medium heat with a lid to reheat for 4 to 6 minutes or until sufficient.
Notes: If the food is large and dense (ie. Turkey loaf) you may want to slice it to heat it more evenly. If you are heating a meal such as roast chicken, brown rice and broccoli, place all three in one oven proof dish and add a small amount of the bone broth. You can add butter or coconut fat to your vegetables and taste the food to adjust the salt content.
I hope this guideline helps ….please post on face book if you have other methods that work well for you.
Enjoy!
